Internal Training Workshop on Academic Program Development and Learning Outcomes Assessment in Alignment with International Standards
To continuously improve academic quality and enhance the professional capacity of the University’s lecturers and staff members, the Office of Quality Assurance organized an internal training workshop entitled “Developing and Revising Academic Programs, Learning Outcomes, and Assessing the Achievement of Course and Program Learning Outcomes” on May 14, 2026, at the Nguyen Van Trang campus.

The workshop attracted the participation of leaders from Faculties and Institutes, Program Directors, along with a large number of lecturers and staff members across the University. The event was also honored to have the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Duc – Vice President of the University, and led by Ms. To Thi Anh Nguyen – Head of the Office of Quality Assurance.
Following the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, the workshop provided participants with fundamental and systematic knowledge on designing academic programs to achieve the expected learning outcomes, while also introducing methods for assessing the achievement of learning outcomes at both the course and program levels. This is considered a key aspect to enhance academic quality and meet international standards.
During the morning session, the workshop focused on the process of developing and revising academic programs and learning outcomes. Participants then practiced reviewing the formulation of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) for the programs and courses under their responsibility. Through these activities, participants had the opportunity to review, benchmark, and revise their current practices.
In the afternoon session, Ms. To Thi Anh Nguyen provided an in-depth presentation on methods for assessing the achievement of Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), with a focus on the direct assessment method based on students’ learning performance. Participants directly engaged in hands-on assessment activities on the courses and academic programs of their respective units, thereby gaining a clearer understanding of the implementation process, assessment methods, and the use of assessment results as a basis for continuous quality improvement.

The training workshop not only contributed to enhancing the professional competencies of lecturers and staff members but also served as one of the University’s key strategic activities in realizing its development orientation. By organizing this event, the University continues to affirm its commitment to developing academic quality in alignment with international standards, strengthening the culture of quality assurance, and promoting continuous improvement.
