A Victory for Hoa Sen University Fashion Design Students

Hoa Sen University (HSU) students from the Department of Fashion Design won the 2012 Youth Designer Contest Championship at the finals held January 16, 2013at Ton Duc Thang University.

The HSU Fashion Design students did an excellent job of overcoming the contestants from all other competing universities to win the championship.

Students from four prestigious universities in HCMC participated in the contest. They were: the University of Architecture, Ton Duc Thang University, Van Lang University, and Hoa Sen University, each of which have a Department of Fashion Design. The contest was sponsored and  coordinated by the Dáng Việt Fashion Company, Du Lịch Việtnam Magazine  – Toàn Cảnh Việtnam, and Vietnam Tourism.

At the contest finale, the students from the four universities displayed 10 impressive and perfect collections before the Board of Examiners, the Organizers, and a great student audience.

The final result was that “The New Face of Pajama”, a Collection designed by Tran Lan Anh and Nguyen Thi Ha Thu, two juniors in the HSU Fashion Design Department won the Championship and an award of 30,000,000 VND. This collection had also won First Prize at the design contest previously held by HSU.

In addition, two collections, the “Saigon S” collection designed by Do Hong Phuong Linh, a junior at the HSU Fashion Design Department (which had won Second Prize in the semi finals), and the “Coliquecot” collection designed by Luu Thanh Binh, also a junior at the HSU Fashion Design Department (which had won Third Prize in the semi finals) won the Consolation Prize with an award valued at 2,000,000 VND.

This contest is not only a helpful game field for the students, learners, and young people in the area of HCM City who have a passionate interest in fashion design, but also an environment for meeting, communicating, and sharing the golden experience between the fashion design companies with prestigious trade names, and the leading fashion designers in Vietnam. It is also a bridge for development of human resources for businesses operating in Vietnamese and the international industry of fashion design. Moreover, it is a good occasion for universities having Fashion Design Departments to publicize their image and training quality and also for attracting students to enter their fashion design branch. As one of the nationally prestigious schools which have trained fashion designers, Hoa Sen University collected 17 fashion collections designed by the students of its Fashion Design Department, and selected the three best collections of these for the finals of this contest. These outstanding results are a tribute to Hoa Sen University’s quality of training.
