HSU gives students experience as “Stock Investor”
With 85 contestants from 9 different universities, the competition on securities investment – The Smart Investor organized by Hoa Sen University (HSU) helped students understand and pocket a lot of ”tips” on stock investment in the current period. The final round of the contest took place on May 16.
The Smart Investor contest is the first securities investment playground of Hoa Sen University organized by the Faculty of Banking and Finance and the HFA Finance Club, in order to create an environment to encourage students to practice invest right from the time you are in school.
Starting from April 3, the contest attracted 85 contestants from 9 universities including: Hoa Sen University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, University of Economics and Finance, Ton Duc Thang University, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, Foreign Trade University of Ho Chi Minh City, University of Technology and Education of Ho Chi Minh City, University of Economics and Law of Ho Chi Minh City, Van Lang University and Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
Participating in the contest, candidates have to go through 2 rounds: Investment round, you make stock investments on 24hMoney application with the specified capital (500 million). The top 7 contestants with the highest return on investment were selected to enter the final round. At the final round – presentation, the top 7 contestants will present the investment process including: Reasons for buying and selling stocks, how to evaluate and analyze the market, decide buying and selling points… The winners will be based on the presentations and critiques. In particular, all competitions are held 100% in English.
In addition to the contest rounds, candidates also participated in the Workshop Be A Smart Investor held on May 11 with guests who are experts in the field of securities investment. From there, providing more basic knowledge to choose stocks effectively for the contestants as well as for all the participating students in general.
Contestant Nguyen Phan Hong Ngoc shared: “I am very happy and grateful that Hoa Sen University and HFA club have created a useful playground for us to experience the knowledge of investing in securities. After participating in the process, I have learned a lot of lessons. If in a short-term investment, you need to carefully study technical and fundamental analysis, because it will help you take as little risk as possible. Basically, there are necessary and sufficient conditions for us to bring in the highest profit rate.”
The results of the contest are as follows: The first prize belongs to Nguyen Phan Hong Ngoc – Hoa Sen University (HSU), the second prize belongs to group of Trinh Chien Thang, Le Quynh Giang, Cao Thai Son – HSU, the third prize belongs to Tran Thai Thuan – Nguyen Tat Thanh University; Nguyen Minh Hien, Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Thanh of HSU are the two candidates who won the consolation prize. In addition, the sub-prize is for Dong Gia Bao – HSU and Le Thi Thao Nguyen – Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.

With the current exciting but inadequate stock market, equipping young people with knowledge and skills about stock investment is also an extremely necessary factor. Instead of just learning about securities through websites, the Smart Investor contest gives you a real playground for you to directly learn and experience. From there, candidates will accumulate and learn more investment experiences from themselves, experts and other candidates, and at the same time improve their English skills, helping them to have a foundation and experience before becoming a real investor.
