Office of Quality Assurance collaborates with the Faculty of Technology to organize a Training Workshop on Developing and Assessing Digital Competence in Academic Programs

In the context of the digital era, equipping learners with essential digital skills has become an indispensable requirement to confidently participate in global integration and keep pace with Industry 5.0 technological trends. According to Circular No.02/2025/TT-BGDĐT issued on January 24, 2025, the Digital Competence Framework for learners in higher education defines six core domains and 24 sub-competencies, structured across 4 levels of proficiency aligned with 8 qualification levels. This framework plays a pivotal role in guiding curriculum design, learning resources, and supporting the assessment and enhancement of learners’ digital competencies, thereby promoting consistency across higher education institutions.

On September 11, 2025, Office of Quality Assurance in collaboration with the Faculty of Information Technology at Hoa Sen University organised a training workshop titled “Developing and Assessing Digital Competence in Academic Programs.” The workshop was co-facilitated by Mr. Bui Ngoc Le – Program Director of the Artificial Intelligence, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thanh – Program Director of the Management Information, with the active participation of lecturers from various faculties across the university.

At the beginning of the workshop, Ms. Thanh Thanh provided an overview of the digital competence framework, offering a critical analysis and comparison between international models (UNESCO, DigCompEdu) and Vietnam’s Circular 164. This helped participants to understand the framework’s conceptual foundations and the specific requirements outlined in the national policy, equipping them to integrate digital competence development into their curricula, pursue continuous professional growth, and incorporate ethical responsibility in the use of AI.

The practical session on integrating AI tools into teaching and learning was led by Mr. Bui Ngoc Le, who provided detailed guidance on applying AI Agents. Participants were instructed to revisit their knowledge of the digital competence framework by assuming the role of students, using artificial intelligence to formulate inquiries and retrieve information from various digital resources.

Participants engaged in hands-on AI practice

Integrating digital competence into curricula fosters lifelong learning, stimulates pedagogical innovation, and enhances teaching and learning effectiveness. It empowers learners to become active creators rather than passive recipients of knowledge, while cultivating critical thinking, self-protection skills, digital ethics, and adaptability in an ever-changing world.

The training session concluded on a positive note, equipping participants with practical knowledge of digital competence while reaffirming Hoa Sen University’s digital transformation strategy. Beyond the institution itself, this initiative aligns with the broader goal of promoting comprehensive digital transformation across Vietnam’s education system. More than an academic exchange platform, the event underscored the university’s strong commitment to fostering digital competence among its faculty and building a modern, dynamic, and globally integrated educational ecosystem.

Lecturers experienced AI Agents

With the core value of respecting, Hoa Sen University remains dedicated to implementing specialised training programmes that continually enhance teaching quality, strengthen the digital capabilities of its academic community, and empower all faculty, staff, and students to become global digital citizens and future innovators.
