HSU Organizes Workshop on the Development and Assessment of Course Learning Outcomes
Marking its 30-year journey of development, Hoa Sen University (HSU) is proud to be the first private university and the second higher education institution in Vietnam to achieve ASIIN accreditation at the institutional level. The university has consistently implemented a wide range of initiatives to enhance the quality of education for students, strengthen the capacity of its academic and teaching staff, and continuously improve institutional services. Notably, HSU places strong emphasis on quality assurance and academic excellence, recognizing them as key drivers of the university’s sustainable growth.
Continuing its series of specialized training sessions for the 2024–2025 academic year, HSU is organizing a workshop on the development and assessment of course learning outcomes (CLOs). The workshop aims to provide participants with foundational knowledge on formulating CLOs using measurable indicators, identifying key factors to consider or avoid when designing CLOs, and building a matrix that demonstrates the alignment and contribution of each course to the overall program learning outcomes.

Mr. Le Huu Son – Deputy Head of the Testing and Quality Assurance Office – facilitated the workshop on CLO development.
With over 15 years of experience in educational quality assurance, Mr. Le Huu Son shared valuable insights to guide departments in determining appropriate assessment methods during the design, development, and evaluation of academic programs that align with Hoa Sen University’s vision and mission. Mr. Le Huu Son and related departments reaffirmed their commitment to comply with Circular No. 17/2021/TT-BGDĐT issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, with the goal of enabling learners to achieve the necessary knowledge, skills, and autonomy upon completing their programs.
Following the theoretical segment, Mr. Le Huu Son introduced a small interactive activity for lecturers to gain practical perspectives through an exercise on writing CLOs. The discussion was lively, with faculty members actively illustrating how a course aligns with various CLO structures to reinforce their understanding. Simultaneously, Mr. Son provided feedback and addressed questions based on the submitted exercises.

Attendees attentively listened to the speaker’s practical insights.
On the journey toward integration and advancement in 2025, and in alignment with the core value of “Respect Diversity,” Hoa Sen University remains committed to continually enhancing its academic quality and fostering a comprehensive development environment for both faculty and learners.
