Fintech and Blockchain: What Are They?
Fintech, short for “financial technology,” is the application of advanced technology to help organizations and individuals in banking, payment, investment, etc., operate more conveniently and flexibly. Fintech includes various aspects such as blockchain, big data, bitcoin, etc.
Among them, Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that allows for secure data transmission and storage based on an extremely complex cryptographic system, similar to a smart accounting book that records all financial transactions and tightly controls them.
Fintech and Blockchain are technology trends that are attracting many investors and businesses. Many companies and large corporations are willing to invest heavily in researching and developing these two areas in the race for digital transformation in the 4.0 era.
The New Market for Fintech and Blockchain
In 2021, many companies successfully raised significant capital, such as MoMo with over 100 million USD in March 2021, and VNLife with over 250 million USD in September 2021. Additionally, the technology unicorn Kyber Network received 52 million USD from more than 21,000 investors from over 100 countries in a fundraising campaign.
Moreover, many experts believe that Fintech & Blockchain will open a “new era” for the banking and financial industry as they are experiencing exponential growth. However, the talent pool in the Vietnamese market is still limited for businesses to develop, presenting a “golden” opportunity for career development for students, especially those pursuing Fintech.
As for Generation Z – the future leaders and inheritors, who have not had much exposure to this field, the question arises:
- Why are Fintech & Blockchain becoming so “hot”?
- What are the practical applications of Fintech & Blockchain?
- What opportunities exist for students in these two fields?
Guidance for career opportunities in Fintech and Blockchain
Understanding these concerns, the Finance and Banking Department at Hoa Sen University, in collaboration with the Leadership Development Institute (LDI), organized a workshop titled “FINTECH & BLOCKCHAIN: REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONS – ADVANTAGES FOR STUDENTS” specifically for Seniors, especially those planning to start their ventures in technology. By attending the workshop, participants will:
- Gain knowledge and the latest information about Fintech & Blockchain
- Analyze the potential and advantages for students participating in these fields
- Have the opportunity to intern at large companies/organizations in the Fintech & Blockchain industry
- Network and connect with industry experts
