Hoa Sen Research Seminar #148

Lúc 9h00, thứ Năm, ngày 22/12/2016
Phòng NZ501, trường Đại học Hoa Sen, số 08 Nguyễn Văn Tráng, Q.1, Tp.HCM

In the first session starting at 9am, Dr. Vo Sang Xuan Lan, from Institute of Tourism Development Research – Hoa Sen University (HSU-ITDR), will present her project on “Designing a model of farm tourism for Vam Ho-Ben Tre”. It is noted that this presentation will be in Vietnamese.

Abstract:

In the last two years the number of foreign tourists in Vietnam has been decreasing significantly because of many reasons such as the unattractiveness of Vietnamese tourism products. This situation leads to a need of research on new tourism products. Farm tourism is one of the kinds of tourism concerning activities at the farms that provide agricultural products. This type of tourism started in the 50s of the 20th century in Europe and becomes highly developped in Italy, France and Switzerland. These tourism activities help farmers avoid risks of market changes and provide them with new opportunities. Nowadays, many developping countries from Africa and Asia have discovered that developing farm tourism can be a way to prevent farmers from poverty.

The aim of this research is to build an effective model for Vam Ho Farm in Ben Tre to develop tourism activities in parallel with their agricultural production. Qualitative Research and Survey by questionnaire are used for this research.

From 10:30, we will have an informal session for the end-of-year celebration. Friends of HSRS (new or old) are welcomed to this session to enjoy the friendly gathering and share your experience. We also would like to take this chance to review our activities and discuss how HSRS can be improved to benefit our researchers. We do hope that HSRS will continue to be a helpful place to develop the research capability of researchers and a platform for all interested researchers to present and discuss ongoing research as well as new research opportunities.

Please be noted that these are the last sessions of 2016. We will have a break next week.
