Hoa Sen University and experts from the University of Sydney discuss smart urban architecture

Building smart cities is a topic that many urban experts are interested in today. To gain a deeper understanding of this topic, Hoa Sen University (HSU) organized the Workshop “Smart Urban Architecture”. The program takes place on November 18, 2022.

Workshop with the participation of leading experts in the field of urban architecture. Especially with the presence of Professor. Robyn Dowling – Principal of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning – University of Sydney (Australia) – where leading architects participated in designing and building the famous Opera House, a symbol of Australia. The conference also had the presence of the speaker – Mr. Jonathan TROUILLON – Director of Kobi Lighting Studio in Vietnam.

Education needs to take the lead in building smart cities

In recent years, Vietnam has experienced rapid urbanization in the region. According to statistics from the Ministry of Construction, in the first 6 months of 2022, the national urbanization rate reached 41%, with 883 urban areas, an increase of 0.6% compared to 2021. To achieve the goal of becoming an industrial country in By 2030, our country’s urbanization rate must reach 50-60%. That number proves the “golden time” of the architecture and construction industry. Statistics show that, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the architecture and construction industry needs about 400,000 – 500,000 more workers each year, but the quality of human resources currently cannot meet the demand.

Speaking at the Conference, Dr. Phan Thi Vietnam – Vice Rector of Hoa Sen University said: “To contribute to the process of smart urban development, I think, education needs to take the lead to provide high-quality human resources with Full of thinking, knowledge, and skills in the 4.0 era. We can easily see that large urban constructions and projects today are still “relying” on designers and architects from abroad. Therefore, how to make design and architecture human resources have more say in large projects is a problem that training institutions need to solve. Including the Interior Design major of Hoa Sen University.

Dr. Phan Thi Vietnam – Vice Principal of HSU spoke at the Workshop “Smart Urban Architecture”

Discussing research and teaching urban architecture, Professor. Robyn Dowling has analyzed the biographies of cities, the challenges of smart cities, how to manage smart cities… Professor. Robyn Dowling also compared smart cities between different countries such as India, Australia… to clearly see the architectural differences between countries. She believes that teaching urban architecture needs to be methodical and continuously innovated: “Let’s start with education and training to raise awareness. Designed training programs must create favorable conditions for learners’ interaction with smart city partners and projects; provides opportunities for network development and knowledge sharing for learners. Students must constantly learn from domestic and international smart location experts,” Prof. Robyn Dowling gives advice to students.

Lighting design is of interest to many young people

Besides Professor. Robyn Dowling, the conference also had the participation of speaker Jonathan TROUILLON with a topic that is of interest to many young people in the interior design and architecture industry today: “Smart Lighting in Architecture – Smart lighting in architecture”.

Mr. Jonathan TROUILLON shared the topic “Smart Lighting in Architecture – Smart Lighting in architecture”

Mr. Jonathan analyzed the definition of smart lighting as a lighting system that integrates many technologies so that both indoor and outdoor lighting systems can operate automatically under certain conditions such as sensors and assistant technology. virtual,.. Benefits of smart lighting such as: Saving energy, avoiding light pollution, improving human life. However, sometimes it  also causes negative effects on human health such as disrupting circadian rhythms, creating too much blue light, relying too much on technology, overexposure to radiation, etc.

Mr. Jonathan TROUILLON answered questions about smart lighting in architecture for HSU students

With this topic, many students expressed their desire to pursue lighting design or start a business in lighting equipment. What young people care about is does this field really have potential? Explaining this issue, Mr. Jonathan shared that where there is supply, there will be demand and you just need to optimize it with modern technology as well as consider costs to identify your customers, this is a solution. potential field.

HSU students asked many interesting questions related to their majors and future entrepreneurship

The “Smart Urban Architecture” conference brought a lot of useful information not only to students but also to lecturers and those working in the field of architecture and urban construction. In particular, this is an opportunity for students majoring in Interior Design at Hoa Sen University to interact and listen to the sharing of leading experts in the field of urban architecture, opening up many opportunities. learning opportunities and job orientation for you. From there, contributed to improving resources in the fields of interior design and architecture, promoting the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City into a smart urban area.

A large number of HSU students and students from universities in Ho Chi Minh City excitedly participated in the conference.

With the goal of internationalizing the training program, HSU constantly expands exchanges and cooperation with international partners so that students can have access to advanced knowledge and educational methods in the world. Collaborating with a world-leading university like the University of Sydney at the “Smart Urban Architecture” Conference is one of the activities for Interior Design students to gain a deeper understanding of the profession they are studying. study, thereby seizing job opportunities and orienting your future career. In addition to becoming an interior designer, graduates can take on positions such as architects, construction contractors, project managers, supervision consultants, lighting experts, landscape, trading products related to architecture and interior…
