The Department of Psychology won the Labor Studies competition

On March 28, 2019, the Labor Research Competition organized by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the International Labor Organization (ILO) announced the results with five research topics the best. The competition is organized to improve scientific research capacity on labor, especially in the field of labor relations in Vietnam. 

In particular, the research topic “The relationship between gender discrimination and job satisfaction and mental health of Vietnamese workers” of the Department of Psychology – Hoa Sen University, led by Master Pham Thi Thuy Tien, the chairwoman, excellently won the Second Prize of the competition. The research report was also selected to be presented at the National Labor Conference co-organized by the ILO and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in July 2019 in HCM City.

Research shows that gender discrimination can predict job satisfaction and mental health of workers regardless of gender, age, marital status, education level, etc. income and work experience. The study’s findings are among the first data on the impact of gender discrimination on workers, contributing to recommendations on gender policies in Vietnam.

This achievement contributes to affirming the scientific research capacity of lecturers of the Department of Psychology – Hoa Sen University. At the same time, it demonstrates the direction of applying psychology to real-life conditions that the Department is aiming for.
