The scholarship has 2 rounds. Students need to send the following information to Nghi.nguyenbaothanh@hoasen.edu.vn before April 18, 2018, to be interviewed for round 1 selection:

  1. Face photo file (like an ID card or passport, can be taken with a phone)
  2. Transcript of components + GPA of the semesters studied up to the present time (Vietnamese and English, stamped by the competent Department at HSU)
  3. Write a short essay of 500-800 words in English, describing the most outstanding characteristics about yourself, and the reason why you want this scholarship

Detailed information about ISEAA scholarships

Scholarship details:

  1. Time: mid-August to mid-December 2018
  2. Tuition: 100% full exemption, students do not have to pay tuition 
  3. Round-trip airfare from Ho Chi Minh City to Chiang Mai: paid by ISEAA
  4. Residential accommodation: free and arranged by ISEAA, students will stay with roommates
  5. Meals & monthly expenses: 3000 baht/student, paid by ISEAA
  6. Excursions included in the study program: paid for by ISEAA

Students will have to pay the following fees:

  1. Visa application fee to Thailand
  2. After arriving in Chiang Mai, students need to extend their visas (about 2000 baht) to stay until the end of the semester.
  3. Monthly electricity and water bills in the residence hall (USD$20-30, depending on usage)
  4. Health insurance while in Chiang Mai (There are many services such as Bao Minh, AGI, HSBC, Liberty Insurance. If purchased from AETNA, it is about 160USD for the entire 4 months)

Study program:

  1. A list of subject class descriptions is in the attached file. Each class is 3 credits.
  2. Thai Language class level 1 (listening and speaking skills): required for all international students.
  3. Students must take a minimum of 12 credits (equivalent to 4 classes) or a maximum of 15 credits (equivalent to 5 classes).
  4. The remaining elective classes: students choose according to their interests 
  • People and Culture of Southeast Asia
  • Learn about yourself through Thai visual arts and culture
  • Thai state and politics
  • International relations in Southeast Asia
  • Social movements in Southeast Asia: LGBTQ, prostitution and human trafficking
  • Buddhism in Thai society
  • Introduction to Thai dance art
  • Thai level 2 (reading and writing skills)

*** Exemption policy of the General Education Program:

Students who complete the scholarship program, with grades of B- or higher in subjects studied at ISEAA, will be exempted from subjects in the Department of Liberal Arts according to the principle of credit equivalence. The Thai language alone is not counted.
