Behind The Data 2025 Final Round: HSU Faculty of Business students build Research and Data Analysis Skills

As data increasingly shapes modern business decision-making, Faculty of Business students at Hoa Sen University showcase their research mindset and analytical skills in the Final Round of Behind The Data 2025. The competition creates a meaningful space where theory meets practice, guided by a rigorous academic approach. The platform also enables the exploration of current financial and business challenges through rigorous, data-driven analysis.

Strengthening Research Thinking Through Learning Activities at HSU Business Faculty

Behind The Data 2025 is a student-led academic competition and research initiative organized by the GenZ Research Club, Faculty of Business at Hoa Sen University (HSU). The program is designed as an open academic platform that encourages students to proactively conduct research, exchange ideas, and develop critical thinking skills through data-driven inquiry.

The competition features a wide range of topics across business, finance, accounting, and fintech, reflecting the realities of today’s economy and evolving social context.

In the final round, the five top teams presented highly relevant and practice-oriented research topics. These studies addressed students’ consumer behavior in using Buy Now, Pay Later services, customer satisfaction with electronic banking, the impact of brand value on bank stock prices, climate change risks and their effects on the financial performance of power companies, and young people’s perspectives on the accounting profession in the contemporary context. Each project demonstrated the ability of HSU students to observe, analyze, and process data systematically.

A judging panel comprising experienced finance and business professionals

Accompanying the students in the Final Round was a judging panel of seasoned experts and lecturers in finance and business:

• Dr. Tran Linh Dang, HSU Program Director of Financial Technology;
• Dr. Cao Thi Cam Van, Head of Accounting Major, Binh Duong University; and,
• Mr. Dam Thanh Hiep, Chairman of the Board of Directors, New World Group Asset Management Investment and Consulting Joint Stock Company.

The judges commended the participating teams for the practical relevance of their research topics and students’ logical analytical thinking and serious research attitude. In addition, the judges offered in-depth feedback on research methodology, sample size selection, theoretical frameworks, and data processing, helping students strengthen their research competence to meet academic standards and move closer to the expectations of a professional working environment.

1. First prize:
   • Group 4 – Topic “A once-peak profession: Decoding the downfall of accounting in the eyes of today’s youth”
2. Second prize:
   • Group 2 – Topic “Factors affecting student satisfaction with electronic banking services”
3. Third prize:
   • Group 1 – Topic “Analyzing the impact of using Buy Now Pay Later on spending behavior and saving ability among Vietnamese students”
4. Consolation Prizes:
   • Group 3 – Topic “The Impact of Brand Value on Stock Prices in Viet Nam’s Banking Industry”
   • Group 5 – Topic “The Impact of Climate Change Risks on the Financial Performance of Electricity Companies in Viet Nam”
