Intellectual Property Protection in International Integration: Building High-Quality Legal Expertise
As the digital economy continues to expand, innovation is emerging as a critical engine of growth, and intellectual property is becoming a strategic asset that strengthens the competitiveness of both businesses and nations. These issues were among the key topics discussed at the workshop “Intellectual Property Protection in International Integration”, held on the afternoon of June 5, 2026.
The workshop was jointly organized by the Faculty of Law at Hoa Sen University (HSU), the Intellectual Property and Innovation Magazine, the Ho Chi Minh City Representative Office of the Intellectual Property Office of Viet Nam, the Vietnam Intellectual Property Association, and TAT Law Firm, with the participation of numerous experts, government officials, legal practitioners, and business representatives.
Intellectual Property: Fueling Innovation and the Knowledge Economy
Held on the afternoon of June 5, 2026, the workshop “Intellectual Property Protection in International Integration” explored how innovation drives growth in the digital economy and how intellectual property strengthens competitiveness at both business and national levels.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Le Van Ut, HSU Vice President for Scientific Research, highlighted that Viet Nam was entering a new phase of innovation-driven growth and digital transformation under the spirit of Resolution 57. He stressed that intellectual property serves not only as a mechanism for safeguarding creative achievements but also as a key pillar of the knowledge-based economy.
According to him, scientific research results could only fully realize their value when they were transferred, commercialized, and effectively applied in practice. He therefore emphasized that the professional discussions and exchanges at the workshop should be translated into concrete solutions and action programs to support the safe and sustainable commercialization of research outcomes.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Intellectual Property Legal Expertise
During the workshop, Mr. Pham Ba Thien, MA, Director of the HSU Economic Law Program, examined the evolving requirements of intellectual property protection and management in the digital era.

According to Mr. Pham Ba Thien, the rapid growth of the digital economy, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and emerging business models was generating complex legal challenges in the field of intellectual property rights. Moreover, that situation required a highly skilled legal workforce capable of providing effective consultation, protecting business interests, and adapting to evolving global business conditions.
He also noted that the assessment reflected the growing demand for high-quality human resources in the field of intellectual property law, as Viet Nam increasingly participated in international trade agreements and global value chains.

Practical Perspectives from Regulators, Lawyers, and Businesses
The seminar gathered leading experts in the field, including Mr. Tran Giang Khue, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Representative Office of the Intellectual Property Office of Viet Nam; Mr. Phan Vu Tuan, Founding & Executive Attorney at Phan Law Vietnam and Vice President of the Vietnam Intellectual Property Association; Mr. Truong Anh Tu, President of TAT Law Firm; Mr. Vu Duy Nam, Director of Kim Ngoc Law Firm; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Chuc Quynh, Legal Specialist at Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company.

The presentations provided a comprehensive overview of intellectual property rights enforcement in Viet Nam, highlighting challenges in the digital environment, risks of infringement in e-commerce, and increasing competitive pressures arising from international integration.
Intellectual property is increasingly regarded as one of the strategic assets of businesses. Its effective development, protection, and exploitation not only enhance competitiveness but also contribute to building investor confidence and securing long-term sustainable advantages.

Linking Academic and Professional Practice
Through co-organizing the workshop, HSU continues to affirm its role as a bridge between the university, management agencies, experts, and the business community.

Practical academic forums such as the seminar “Intellectual Property Protection in International Integration” not only help raise awareness of intellectual property but also enable law students to engage with current professional issues, understand labor market demands, and gain insights into future trends in the legal field.
As innovation becomes a driving force for national development, the development of high-quality legal human resources in intellectual property is increasingly important in safeguarding intellectual property assets, promoting research and technology transfer, and strengthening the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises globally.
