HSU Encourages Lifelong Learning at the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Book Fair 2026
Creating meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom, the Library of Hoa Sen University participated in the 6th Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Book Fair 2026, held under the theme “Children Enjoy Reading, Learn Many Good Things”. In collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and the General Sciences Library of Ho Chi Minh City, Hoa Sen University organized interactive workshops designed to inspire young readers through creativity and hands-on learning. By combining art, reading, and experiential activities, the program nurtured curiosity, celebrated the joy of books, and reaffirmed Hoa Sen University’s commitment to cultivating a lifelong learning spirit.
Discovering the Beauty of Vietnamese Culture Through Conical Hat Painting
The “Painting Conical Hats” workshop brought a vibrant artistic atmosphere to Ho Chi Minh City Book Street on the morning of June 28, 2026, attracting numerous children and parents. Under the guidance of lecturers and students from the Faculty of Design and Arts at Hoa Sen University (HSU), participants reimagined Viet Nam’s iconic conical hat through colorful paintings, celebrating both cultural heritage and creative expression.
Beyond inspiring creativity, the workshop offered children a meaningful opportunity to connect with Vietnamese cultural heritage through the iconic conical hat. Every hand-painted design became more than an artwork; it captured each child’s imagination while marking a memorable first step in exploring art, culture, and creative expression.
Inspiring Open-Minded Thinking Through Reading
Continuing the activity series, the workshop “Nurturing Open-Minded Thinking in Young People Through Reading” took place on the morning of June 30, 2026, at the General Sciences Library of Ho Chi Minh City, supported by Speed Reading Vietnam.
Through hands-on activities and engaging discussions, children were introduced to effective reading strategies while developing critical thinking, observation, and creativity skills. Beyond fostering a love for reading, the workshop encouraged children to ask questions, think independently, and explore knowledge from multiple perspectives.
This aligns with the HSU educational philosophy, where reading is seen not merely as a way to gain knowledge but as a foundation for developing critical thinking, learning capacity, and adaptability in an ever-changing world.
