HSU Awarded UNESCO Certificates, Marking a Significant Step Toward International Recognition
On November 20, Hoa Sen University (HSU) hosted the UNESCO Certificate Awarding Ceremony by the World Federation of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO at the HSU Nguyen Van Trang Campus. Held in the celebratory atmosphere of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, the event highlighted a moment in HSU’s journey toward global integration and reaffirmed the educational philosophy HSU has embraced for over thirty years.
UNESCO Certification – A Milestone in HSU’s Path of Integration and Knowledge Advancement
The UNESCO Certificate Awarding Ceremony from the World Federation of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO recognized HSU’s persistent efforts in education, culture, and sustainable development, marking a new step in its mission to bring knowledge to the world.

The ceremony opened with a dynamic art performance rich in Vietnamese cultural identity. Graceful Ao Dai, delicate lotus motifs, and traditional musical instruments blended seamlessly to create a radiant, spirited atmosphere filled with national pride. This emotional opening not only celebrated Vietnamese culture but also reflected UNESCO’s mission of preserving and promoting cultural values.

Throughout more than three decades of development, HSU has remained committed to a liberal education philosophy grounded in innovation and strengthened by expanding international cooperation. This direction has enabled HSU to steadily move toward global educational standards, becoming a vibrant representative of Vietnamese education on the international academic map.

Continuing the journey of nurturing intelligent generations, HSU is honored to receive the UNESCO Certifications, an important milestone affirming the university’s sustained efforts in promoting education for sustainable development and in spreading knowledge and humanistic values to the international community.

During the ceremony, delegates from the World Federation of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO and the Viet Nam National Federation of Associations for UNESCO honored HSU with four notable certificates, specifically:
- Leading Mission in Science and Education for UNESCO 2025, awarding HSU for its significant contributions to scientific advancement, educational improvement, and sustainable development;
- Cultural Enterprise for UNESCO 2025, recognizing contributions to preserving traditional culture while promoting cultural and creative industries;
- Global Ethics for UNESCO 2025, recognizing HSU’s commitment to a responsible, transparent, human-centered academic culture and its contributions to global ethical standards; and,
- Participation Certificate for the International Conference on “Heritage Conservation and the Development of Cultural and Creative Industries”, highlighting HSU’s active engagement in global discussions on culture and creativity.
UNESCO-oriented educational values strategy
Mr. Tran Van Manh, Vice Chairman of the Federation of UNESCO Associations in Asia and the Pacific and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam National Federation of Associations for UNESCO, highlighted HSU’s strengths in three key areas:
- Alignment with UNESCO’s Core Spirit: Embracing culture as the basis of social growth, education as the key to sustainable peace, and knowledge as the engine driving all purposeful endeavors;
- A Development Philosophy Focused on Depth Over Display: Building a stable academic environment, nurturing sustainable values for learners; and,
- A Humane, Open, and Responsible Educational Environment: Cultivating confident learners, socially responsible citizens, and globally minded individuals, as demonstrated through HSU’s liberal education system and extensive international cooperation.

These orientations are reflected in HSU’s liberal education environment and its long-standing commitment to international collaboration.
“The values HSU pursues align closely with UNESCO’s core spirit: sustainable development, academic and creative freedom, and a deep connection between culture and knowledge. This recognition from UNESCO is not only a meaningful honor for the University but also a reflection of our enduring dedication over the years. “HSU will remain committed to the core values it has built over the years, taking this recognition as a motivation to keep striving and pursue new academic and institutional achievements in the years ahead”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut, HSU Vice President, commented.

Special Seminar with Harvard University Professor and Poet-Translator Nguyen Do
Immediately after the UNESCO Certificate Awarding Ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a special seminar with Prof. John Stauffer and Mr. Nguyen Do of Harvard University. Their discussions delved into AI’s evolving role in creative advancement, the preservation of linguistic identity amidst rapid technological change, and the complex, artistic process of translating The Tale of Kieu into English.

The speakers explored the linguistic and the beauty of six-eight poetry, the cultural values that often transcend translation, and the importance of bringing Vietnamese heritage to the world. Moreover, their conversation offered participants a deeply human and inspiring intellectual experience.

These meaningful activities reinforce HSU’s strategic orientation: proactively engaging with global knowledge while steadfastly promoting Vietnamese cultural values internationally.
