From AI Users to AI Masters: HSU Students Engage with International Experts on Data Protection
The more we use AI, the more we need to know what happens to the data we share with it. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in learning and work, data protection is becoming an essential part of using the technology responsibly. This was one of the key issues explored at the “Taking Charge of AI: Security, Sovereignty & The Next Generation” workshop, organized by the HSU Student Center.
Data Awareness as the Foundation of AI Mastery
On August 20, 2026, the Student Center at Hoa Sen University (HSU) hosted the workshop “Taking Charge of AI: Security, Sovereignty & The Next Generation”, bringing together HSU leaders and students to explore how to use AI more confidently, responsibly, and securely. The workshop featured Dr. Tu Minh Thien, HSU Vice President, and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sao Chi, MBA, Director of the HSU Student Center.
The workshop also brought together international experts and industry leaders, including Dr. Bangdao Chen, Founder and Director of The Blockhouse Technology Limited and Oxford University College Blockchain Research Centre; Mr. Rui Wang, Vice President and Chief of Staff of Linklogis Digital Technology Group; and Ms. Tran Tue Tri, Founder and CEO of Stamford Global Leadership Center. Their diverse expertise provided students with perspectives on AI, technology, leadership, and the challenges of navigating an increasingly AI-driven world.



During the workshop, Dr. Bangdao Chen highlighted the challenges arising from the growing use of AI and AI agents.
According to the speaker, digital security could not rely solely on users knowing when to be cautious. Moreover, he claimed that as technology continued to evolve, the infrastructure supporting digital interactions needed to become more secure, with stronger systems for identity management, verification, and data protection.
Beyond user awareness, the speaker also introduced Zero Trust as an approach to strengthening digital security. Rather than assuming trust by default, each request was checked and verified before access was accepted. By requiring verification at every step, this approach reduced risks such as unauthorized access, insecure transactions, and system attacks.

Followed by Private Data Wallet, which was proposed as a way to strengthen personal data protection. Under this approach, the original data was stored in an encrypted environment, while the system could verify only the necessary information without exposing the complete dataset.

From AI Users to AI Experts
The workshop highlighted that “Mastering AI” is not simply about knowing how to use the technology. It also means knowing what data to share, understanding the risks involved, and taking proactive steps to protect information in an increasingly digital world.
Through dialogue with international experts, HSU students gained further perspectives on using AI more proactively, responsibly, and securely, skills that are increasingly necessary for learning and working in the AI era.
Led by international experts, the workshop also provided students with an opportunity to understand AI security, data sovereignty, and methods to safeguard personal data.
