HSU Chinese Language Studies Students Showcase Talent at Two Regional Academic and Cultural Competitions
Demonstrating strong language competence, cultural awareness, and a proactive spirit of integration, Chinese Language Studies students at Hoa Sen University made their mark in prestigious academic and cultural arenas. Among them, Mr. Huynh Phuc Thinh, a second-year Chinese Language Studies student, recently achieved outstanding results by winning a Consolation Prize at the 25th Chinese Bridge – World University Students Competition in Southern Region and a Third Prize at the 3rd Vietnam–China Performing Arts Competition for Universities in Southern Viet Nam.
This notable accomplishment reflects HSU students’ commitment to academic development, language proficiency, and the cultivation of competencies required for international integration.
HSU Student Research Honors and Workshop on Research in the New Era
Recently, at the 25th Chinese Bridge – World University Students Competition in the Southern Region, Mr. Huynh Phuc Thinh and Ms. Tran Nguyen Anh Ly represented the Chinese Language Studies students at Hoa Sen University (HSU), demonstrating confidence, passion, and strong performance against competitors from across the region.
Bringing together 37 contestants from 19 universities, this year’s competition created a vibrant academic platform for students to demonstrate their Chinese language proficiency, cultural understanding, and presentation skills to a panel of experts.

During the competition, contestants completed three rounds conducted entirely in Chinese:
- A comprehensive knowledge examination covering language, economics, politics, society, and culture;
- A thematic presentation on “One world – One family” followed by a Q&A session with the judging panel; and,
- An artistic showcase reflecting elements of Chinese cultural heritage.
With a confident demeanor, strong academic foundation, and fluent command of Chinese, Phuc Thinh was awarded the Consolation Prize in the competition.
Organized annually by the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City (Viet Nam) under the authorization of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, Ministry of Education of China, Chinese Bridge is regarded as one of the most prestigious academic and international exchange platforms for Chinese language students in Viet Nam.

Following his achievements, Phuc Thinh continued his journey of distinction at the 3rd Vietnam-China Performing Arts Competition for Universities in Southern Viet Nam.

The final round gathered 19 outstanding performances from 12 universities, fostering a meaningful cultural exchange among students from Chinese language institutions in the region.
With his Pipa solo performance “Thần Thoại”, Thinh demonstrated exceptional technical proficiency and emotional artistry, ultimately achieving Third Place Overall.

This achievement not only highlights artistic talent but also underscores a deep understanding of Chinese culture, an important competency for language learners in the context of global integration.
Integrated Language Learning and Social Development Environment
The consecutive achievements in two major competitions demonstrate the serious learning process, proactive training, and continuous self-improvement mindset of HSU Chinese Language Studies students.

They also reflect the training orientation of HSU’s Chinese Language Studies program, which goes beyond language knowledge to offer students opportunities in academic competitions, cultural exchange activities, international cooperation programs, and diverse practical environments.
Through these practical experiences, students are able to develop professional competence, communication skills, public speaking abilities, inclusive thinking, and confidence in multicultural environments.
Phuc Thinh’s success represents a meaningful milestone in the academic journey of students in the Chinese Language Studies Program. Moreover, it serves as an inspiration for many young learners pursuing language proficiency, cultural understanding, and diverse future career opportunities.
