3. Study at a university or a training center?

Studying Graphic Design at a university or an institute will bring different benefits to learners. Here’s what you can consider:

3.1. At a university

  • Quality education: Universities often offer comprehensive and structured training programs, providing fundamental knowledge and in-depth expertise. You will start from the basics, ensuring a solid foundation and further honing your design thinking skills – this is the advantage of being trained along a lengthy curriculum.
  • Degrees: You can obtain a reputable degree, which may be necessary for advancing further in your career.
  • Learning environment: Universities typically provide a diverse learning environment, including opportunities for communication and collaboration with fellow students, as well as exposure to teachers and experts in the field.

3.2. At a training center

  • Software skills: At training centers, you’ll focus on learning software tools and receive hands-on guidance to complete projects throughout your study period. However, in short-term programs, there might not be enough time to train and teach students about design thinking. The knowledge gained at training centers will quickly become outdated within about 5 years. Afterwards, you may struggle to find a new direction for development.
  • Time and cost: Training centers usually offer shorter courses or more flexible programs, helping you save time and costs compared to participating in a long-term university program.
