HSU Interior Design Students Learning Through Real-Life Practice
At HSU, interior design learning extends beyond the classroom into real businesses, helping students connect theory with practice. This unique advantage allows them to adapt to the market, develop quality portfolios, and be career-ready after graduation.
International-Standard Program with 100% Employment Rate
The Interior Design Major at Hoa Sen University (HSU) has achieved AUN-QA (Southeast Asia) quality certification, providing students with an internationally standardized and integrated training program. Students have various opportunities to participate in study exchanges at Shih Chien University (Taiwan), NABA (Italy), University of Hawai’i (USA).

By combining cutting-edge software training (AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, and Photoshop) with English and communication skills, the program gives students the edge to thrive internationally. Real-world projects with partner businesses ensure they gain valuable experience even before graduation.

Moreover, the Interior Design program is strengthened by seasoned lecturers, not only in architecture, fine arts, and interior design but also with extensive teaching and professional practice experience. With these advantages, HSU’s Interior Design major achieves a 100% employment rate for graduates immediately after graduation, clearly demonstrating the program’s training quality and the value of practice-oriented learning at HSU.
Hands-on class experience enhancement
For Interior Design students, learning goes beyond the classroom through field trips that turn theory into practice. At KES Group, a pioneer in interior design materials and solutions with five factories covering nearly 1,200,000 m², students discovered new materials, engaged with industry experts, and worked like real designers. These experiences give them the confidence to apply knowledge to future projects and constructions.

At the showroom, students surveyed, measured, collected samples, and recorded data to complete their material boards. These hands-on experiences allowed them to practice working with layouts, identifying construction details, and analyzing structures to create professional technical drawings and perspectives. Students also explored new collections of materials, colors, accessories, and equipment, helping them stay current with sustainable interior design trends.

In addition, students had the opportunity to meet directly with KES Group leaders, asking questions about the material selection process, quality standards, and applications based on specific functions (humidity, heat, load, hygiene, etc.). These practical insights helped students grasp a key principle: good design must always align with safety, sustainability, and ease of maintenance. This valuable experience also broadened their career perspectives and enhanced their professional working style.

Through practical activities, HSU Interior Design students develop three key groups of competencies:
- Specialized skills: selecting and coordinating materials by function, keeping up with accessory and equipment trends, and mastering construction standards;
- Soft skills: questioning, systematic recording, presenting insights, and defending design plans before experts;
- Sustainable thinking: balancing aesthetics with functionality while considering product lifecycle and maintenance factors in design.
The partnership between HSU and KES Group demonstrates a joint training model connecting university – business – student. Through HSU’s practice-oriented programs, businesses open learning spaces and share experiences, while students actively learn, apply knowledge, and develop themselves. As a result, HSU Interior Design students not only learn quickly and gain early professional insights but are also ready to become a new generation of interior designers who can meet the demands of a dynamic market.
