[HSU Pride] Hoa Sen Students Crowned Champion of the 2024 National Student Basketball Tournament
After battling through a series of dramatic matches against 14 top teams, carefully selected from 157 nationwide contenders, the Hoa Sen University Men’s Basketball Team seized the 2024 National University Championship (NUC) title. This historic win marked an inspiring milestone for the HSU student sports movement.
The journey to conquer the highest position was convincing
From December 9-15, 2024, the Final Round of the National University Championship Tournament 2024 took place at the Canadian International School’s Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring intense competition among the nation’s 14 strongest basketball teams. In the highly anticipated final match, the Hoa Sen University Men’s Basketball Team delivered an explosive and convincing performance, triumphing 69–60 over the VNU University of Economics and Business in Hanoi to be officially crowned national champion.
Even after the final whistle blew, tears of triumph flowed, and heartfelt hugs were exchanged with teammates, coaches, family, and beloved supporters. The sheer magnitude of feelings ignited in that championship match was immense. Their arduous journey through NUC 2024, marked by overcoming numerous obstacles, clearly showcased the ‘study hard – play hard’ spirit and the undeniable talent characteristic of Hoa Sen University students.
When recalling the key moments of the event, fans always remembered the image of the proficient leader, Mr. Huynh Truc Nhan, whose dashing runs and unconventional playing style always kept the opposing team on guard. Despite being injured in the most important match, Truc Nhan’s sportsmanship shone through as he fought with all his might for his teammates and the colors of Hoa Sen University. Therefore, the MVP title for Nhan at the NUC 2024 was completely deserved.
The HSU Women’s Team held onto the NUC Southern Region Championship title
Not only did the boys create miracles, but the Hoa Sen University Women’s Basketball Team also brought great pride when continuing to successfully defend the championship NUC Southern region tournament. In the thrilling final match against Ton Duc Thang University, the HSU girls showed their steadfast, competitive, and persistent fighting spirit until the last minutes.
Notably, athlete Khanh Linh (number 3) scored three consecutive accurate shots, helping the team control the match and advance towards victory. Therefore, for the second consecutive year, the talented women’s team was crowned champions of the National Student Basketball Tournament’s Southern Region.
