Workshop “Introducing Service-learning subjects and connecting the community”

On the morning of July 13, 2018, the Service-learning Center, under the Department of Liberal Arts Education, General Education Program, organized a workshop “Introducing Service-learning Subjects and Connecting the Community” at the headquarters. Nguyen Van Trang, Hoa Sen University.

At the conference, Dr. Nguyen Bao Thanh Nghi, Ph.D. Nguyen Minh Anh, MSc. Nguyen Hoang Tuan and MSc. Truong Nguyen Bao Tran introduced to community partners specific subjects and Service-learning projects of the Department of Liberal Education, General Education Program. Cooperation criteria, processes, and forms for implementing subjects and Service-learning projects have also been presented to the community.

Community partners who attended the conference and raised their needs and ideas for cooperation with Hoa Sen University include the BIT Business Idea Team of Foreign Trade University, the Public Transport Management Center, and other organizations. Youth Sustainable Development, Ho Chi Minh City Professional Social Work Club, Ho Chi Minh City Center for Sponsorship – Vocational Training and Job Creation for Disabled People, Children’s Rights Management Network, Change Organization, Center for Research and Education of People hearing impaired, Thao Dan Social Protection Facility, LIN Community Development Support Center, Luong Van Can Talent Support Fund, Global Engagement Institute, Clean and Green Vietnam organization… The community has expressed special interest in the subjects and projects of the Department and Program and expressed a desire to cooperate in the subjects, project activities and applied research of the Department of Liberal Education.

The 2018-2019 school year is the first year that the Department of Liberal Education implemented teaching three Service-learning subjects: Building green communities, Social responsibility of organizations, and Comprehensive development through art therapy. Hoa Sen University is the first place in Vietnam to implement Service-learning subjects in the form of credit for students.
