For students, research is an opportunity to move beyond learning what is already known and begin exploring questions of their own. Along the way, they develop critical thinking, research skills, problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to approach challenges from different perspectives. These capabilities are increasingly important in a changing and competitive labor market. Beyond specialized knowledge, employers value professionals who can adapt, innovate, and find effective solutions. By engaging in research, learners can strengthen these skills and build a foundation for their future career development.

How can student research become a stepping stone toward a sustainable career? To explore this connection, the Office of Research Affairs and Science Journal at Hoa Sen University (HSU) is organizing the workshop “Turning Student Research into Sustainable Career Development”.

The workshop will provide practical insights into how research can help students sharpen their critical thinking, strengthen research skills, and apply what they learn to real-world academic and professional contexts. Furthermore, the workshop will help students move from understanding research to exploring where their own ideas can take them. By identifying suitable research directions and strengthening their innovative thinking, students can build capabilities that support both academic growth and future career development.

For the 2026 – 2027 academic year, HSU is also opening pathways for students to put these skills into practice. Students can register for Institutional-Level Student Scientific Research Projects, funded by HSU, or showcase their ideas through the HSU Student Scientific Research Ideas Competition, with valuable prizes awaiting outstanding entries.

Beyond contributing to academic growth and innovation, scientific research gives students tangible experiences and achievements that can strengthen their professional profiles. For HSU students, these accomplishments can become valuable assets when entering the job market, helping them demonstrate their capabilities, differentiate themselves from other candidates, and open up new pathways for career development.
