Speed Reading: The U.S. Method for Building Sustainable Lifelong Learning and Enhanced Memory

October 17, 2025, marked the vibrant opening day of the student “Speed Reading” session at the Thanh Thai Campus Library. The course is part of the “HSU – Lifelong Learning” series, aiming to equip learners with enhanced reading comprehension, memorization, and effective information processing skills, essential tools for academic and professional success.

Speed reading – a key to lifelong learning and growth

Under the expert guidance of Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh, Senior Lecturer of the Speed Reading Program Vietnam, students gained hands-on experience:

• Discovering the modern speed reading method, copyrighted directly from the U.S.;
• Boosting reading speed 2-10 times to master concentration, deep comprehension, and long-term memory;
• Participating in lively interactive activities focusing on advanced memory training and logical thinking exercises.

The session was vibrant and engaging, with practical insights that helped students understand that effective reading goes beyond a learning skill; it is the essential foundation of lifelong learning.

According to session representatives, developing speed reading comprehension skills helps HSU students:

• Optimizing the process of receiving and processing information in learning;
• Forming the habit of self-study and self-research, a core element for learners in the 4.0 era;
• Applying knowledge flexibly in work, research, and personal development.

Many students expressed their enthusiasm for being introduced to an innovative and modern learning approach that can be applied during their academic journey as well as in everyday situations.

Speed reading session expansion for HSU faculty and staff

Following the success of the first session, on October 18, 2025, HSU continued to host the “Speed Reading” course for HSU lecturers and staff. The session offered practical experiences and lasting learning values, further spreading the spirit of “HSU – Lifelong Learning” across the HSU community.

Besides the educational philosophy of “experiential learning”, HSU consistently encourages learners to continually grow, innovate, and adapt to a world that is evolving every day.
