Hoa Sen University Appoints New Chairman of the University Council and President: A Milestone Marking a New Phase of Development

On January 19, 2026, Hoa Sen University (HSU) announced new senior leadership appointments, a key move to enhance the University’s governance and support its sustainable growth plan. The University Council officially designated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, MD, as Chairman of the HSU Council, and appointed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut as HSU President.

Assoc. Prof.  Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong – New Chairman of the HSU Council: Academic Excellence and Strategic Leadership

Assoc. Prof.  Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, MD, appointed Chairman of the University Council, has nearly four decades of experience in healthcare, education, and executive leadership. With decades of experience in public service, he has served in numerous senior leadership roles within the Government Office and key agencies across the health and education sectors, notably as Deputy Director of the Department for Monitoring Southern Economic Sectors and Deputy Director in charge of Administrative and Management Department II of the Government Office. For his enduring contributions, he was awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal by the State.

Academically, he holds a PhD in Medicine (1996), a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics & Public Administration (2002), and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Economics in 2013. In December 2025, he assumed the position of Senior Strategic Advisor to Nguyen Hoang Group’s Board of Directors and General Management Board.

Drawing on his broad expertise, proven management experience, and strategic vision, he is expected to work closely with the University Council to establish a strong foundation for sustainable development, while collaborating with the Board of Presidents to enhance training quality and strengthen HSU’s academic reputation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut – New President: Building on Stability, Driving Innovation Forward

In November 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut joined the Board of Presidents of HSU as Vice President, directly overseeing the University’s overall operations. His appointment as President by the University Council reflects strategic continuity and institutional stability, while creating favorable conditions for HSU to accelerate our development in a new phase.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut is widely respected for his strong management capabilities, extensive academic networks, and contributions to faculty development. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), was conferred the title of Associate Professor in 2015, and appointed Senior Lecturer in 2017. Before assuming the position of President of HSU, he held various senior leadership roles at leading educational institutions, contributing significantly to academic management, human resource development, and institutional governance.

Speaking at the appointment ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut emphasized that HSU was committed to enhancing training quality to international standards and promoting an innovative, practice-oriented educational model centered on students’ practical skills.

“HSU will deepen partnerships with businesses, incorporate real-world projects into our training programs, and focus on cultivating essential competencies such as problem-solving, creativity, multidisciplinary work, and adaptability in the digital age. Moreover, we will strengthen our innovation ecosystem, including scientific research, educational technology, and open learning spaces, ensuring that students are supported in “experiential learning” throughout their studies“, he commented.
