Scientific Journals Strategy: Conquering the World with Knowledge
As part of the Scientific Research Development Workshop Series at Hoa Sen University, Workshop 3, held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, themed “Advancing Research at Hoa Sen University in the New Era”, brought together a large gathering of faculty and staff.
University leaders outlined a forward-looking roadmap that leverages internal strengths and positions research as a strategic engine to elevate HSU on the regional, continental, and global academic stage.
Scientific research as a genuine value
On Thursday, April 2, 2026, Hoa Sen University (HSU) hosted the third workshop in its series, themed “Advancing Research at Hoa Sen University in the New Era”.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut, HSU President, highlighted the importance of integrating teaching and research. He emphasized that building a strong internal foundation required unity, which was essential for HSU to achieve its university ranking objectives genuinely.

During the workshop, Dr. Le Van Ut, HSU Vice President for Scientific Research, noted that “Stop debating whether we should or shouldn’t. It’s time to execute”. At HSU, scientific research creates value across three key dimensions:
- Technology Innovation: Transforming research into practical, real-world applications;
- Knowledge Advancement: Elevating teaching quality and enriching academic disciplines; and,
- Reputation Building: Reinforcing the prestige of HSU’s faculty, units, and institutional brand.
During the workshop, Dr. Le Van Ut outlined forward-looking strategies to advance scientific research in alignment with the university’s policy framework and evolving operational model. He emphasized transformational shifts in research governance, particularly in resource allocation, incentive structures, and quality assurance. A key highlight was the translation of research into practice, positioned as a central driver of internal strength and academic excellence. Moreover, research at HSU is expected to move beyond publication, towards integration into teaching, real-world application, and the creation of long-term, sustainable value.

Additionally, the workshop showcased HSU’s strategies to empower faculty members and academic units through tailored research development models, designed to expand participation and elevate research capabilities across the University. It also set out a clear vision for HSU’s ranking goals for the next five years at national, regional, continental, and global levels, grounded in sustained effort, substantive quality, and consistent performance.
The advancement of a comprehensive research ecosystem
To consistently achieve its strategic goals, HSU is cultivating a research ecosystem that activates its entire academic community:
- Lecturers take the lead, driving research initiatives with autonomy and strong collaborative networks;
- Learners (Students) step in early, leveraging research experiences to sharpen their edge and expand career horizons; and,
- Supported platforms: power the system, connecting ideas, people, and resources through seminars, workshops, and dedicated research funding.

Concluding the workshop, Dr. Le Van Ut highlighted that scientific research is not only a pathway to career growth but also a powerful tool for improving performance and impact. He reaffirmed HSU’s commitment to equipping faculty and students with the resources necessary to develop their unique strengths and make meaningful contributions.
The closing session featured an open exchange led by Dr. Le Van Ut, where faculty and staff actively engaged in discussion, raised questions, and explored ideas for advancing scientific research in the next phase.

Let’s take a look at the key highlights from the workshop:
