SYNOPSIS

How are Vietnamese women portrayed in Vietnamese and foreign literature?

Literature can allow us to discuss the complexity of Vietnamese women’s femininity, gender stereotypes, and the many variations in gender stereotypes whether chosen or not, around the main characters. in different contexts. Exploring women characters through literature is timeless because it will help us understand perception, representation, and gender roles, and enrich gender knowledge for humanities scientists and individuals. concerned about women. The presentation intends to share general information about the diversity of literary acts and genres. It means making a choice between writers, times, and places and assuming the subjectivity of each writer.

‘How Vietnamese women are depicted in Literature?

Literature may allow us to discuss the complexity of Vietnamese femininities, gender patterns, and the many transformations, chosen or not, that surround protagonists submerged in unstable settings. Exploring Vietnamese women characters through literature is never ‘innocent’ and tells us about perceptions, representations, and roles, and opens a window on the writers, the society, and the individuals.

Starting from that simple question, the presentation intends to find a ‘guideline’ in the diversity of literary genres and actions. It also means choosing writers, times, and places and to assume its inevitable subjectivity.’
