Hoa Sen Students Spread the Value of the Vietnamese Language in the Digital Age
The Vietnamese Public Speaking Competition is an academic platform that honors the value of national language and culture. It featured six universities from the Ho Chi Minh City-level Competition Cluster 21. This event provided an opportunity for students to cultivate their language skills, practice expression, develop critical thinking, and spread their national voice in a professional academic environment.

With the theme Vietnamese Language – A Bridge Between Heritage and Integration, the team of students from HSU’s Economic Law, English Language, and Chinese Language programs surpassed many impressive teams to clinch the runner-up spot at the 2025 Vietnamese Public Speaking Competition.
“The factors that helped our team win were our unity, thorough preparation, and a strong mindset. We achieved this thanks to the dedicated support of our mentors, Ms. Tu and Ms. Phuong, who stood by us with both knowledge and encouragement. Additionally, our participation in many university-organized activities helped us build confidence, which was a significant factor in our success this time.” — Nguyen Thi Kieu Lam, Economic Law Student
This year’s competition was a forum for exchanging knowledge and debating current issues, including: Gen Z’s use of the Vietnamese language; Vietnamese in the digital age—opportunities and challenges; Vietnamese in diplomacy and promoting the national image; language cross-pollination—is Vietnamese becoming “diluted?”; Vietnamese in creative arts; and students’ responsibility to preserve the Vietnamese language.

Students were thoroughly prepared for the 2025 Vietnamese Public Speaking Competition.
Carrying the spirit of preserving cultural identity, the competing teams affirmed that Vietnamese is a bridge connecting cultural heritage with the younger generation and the “voice” for artistic creation. They also raised concerns that developments in the digital age might inadvertently erode the original value of the mother tongue. With tight arguments and engaging presentations, they clearly demonstrated a sense of responsibility to protect the pure value of the Vietnamese language from the negative impacts of modern society.
Respecting Differences – The Root of Nurturing Critical Thinking
The curricula at Hoa Sen University do not only focus on improving professional quality but also on fostering critical thinking and developing individual perspectives. Through cultural exploration activities, real-world simulation competitions, and clubs, students are trained to flexibly apply language skills in various situations.

The Hoa Sen University team went through many tough rounds to win the runner-up title.
Sharing his joy with his teammates, Nguyen Vu Minh Thang, an English Language student, stated that HSU’s learning environment, which respects differences, nurtured the confidence to voice their opinions from multiple angles. For Kieu Lam, the competition further reinforced her communication and critical thinking skills, helping her gain self-confidence.

The joy of victory for the HSU faculty and students.
The journey to the runner-up title was not just a result of debate skills or language knowledge; it was also a testament to a generation of students ready to spread national identity with a contemporary academic spirit. From the public speaking stage, Hoa Sen students showed that Vietnamese is not merely a language but also an identity, a belief, and a medium for the younger generation to engage in dialogue in the digital era.The competition has concluded, but the journey of preserving the Vietnamese language continues for HSU students in every thought and every classroom—where they are nurtured by an academic environment deeply rooted in a liberal arts education and a respect for differences at Hoa Sen.
