Startup Readiness Series: Ideas – Finance – Laws
In collaboration with the Startup and Innovation Hub of Ho Chi Minh City (SIHUB), Hoa Sen University (HSU) will organize a topic series aimed at building foundational startup knowledge for students and young people interested in innovation. The program offers a structured, experience-based learning journey, enabling participants to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, strengthen project development, and grasp essential financial and legal concepts.
The series gives students valuable access to real startup–planning methodologies and the opportunity to learn firsthand from seasoned experts in Viet Nam’s innovation ecosystem.
Topic 1: Startup Project Planning
Time: December 1 – 2, 2025
Speaker: MA. Tran Kim Duy Lan, Development Partner of the Acceleration Program at Expara Investment Fund
In the first session, students will explore practical startup mindsets shaped by digital transformation and AI advancements. The speaker will instruct students how to develop and present a convincing, logical, and feasible startup project, from generating an idea to creating a structured action plan. This series also provides students with the opportunity to learn directly from experienced startup consultants who have led and mentored numerous projects within the innovation ecosystem. Upon completing the required sessions, participants will receive a certificate from SIHUB.
Topic 2: Financial Analysis for Startup Success
Time: December 3 – 4, 2025
Speaker: Ms. Vo Phuong Quynh, Managing Director of Zone Startups Vietnam
The second topic equips students with key financial insights to assess whether a startup idea can truly succeed. In addition, participants explore how to choose a business model aligned with market trends and how to forecast cash flow, expenses, and profits over the first 3–5 years.
This session equips students with essential financial foundations for evaluating the feasibility of a startup. They also gain valuation, smart fundraising, ROI, break-even analysis, and key metrics, helping them think strategically, plan exits, and engage with the startup ecosystem.
Topic 3: Startup Law
Time: December 5 – 6, 2025
Speaker:
– MA. Doan Trong Dan, Head of Training Department, Research Institute for Medium and Small Enterprises; and,
– Ms. Ha Thi Van Anh – Head of Office, THB Consulting Co., Ltd (Ho Chi Minh City branch)
The legal module provides students with core knowledge to protect their projects and identify common early-stage risks, including misunderstandings and unsafe cooperation agreements, such as “contributing without paying.”
Attendees have a chance to discover the crucial role of intellectual property in startup success, such as what to protect, how to secure it, how to manage ownership or transfer, … Furthermore, it introduces key legal considerations for investors, project implementation, and compliance requirements for startups entering official operation.
Profits for participants:
– Students can choose to enroll in 1-3 topics; and,
– A Certificate for each completed topic will be issued by SIHUB after attending all 4 sessions.
