Special Seminar with Harvard University Professor and Poet-Translator Nguyen Do
Welcoming the significance of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20, Hoa Sen University (HSU) proudly presents a special academic event with a Harvard University professor and Poet–Translator Nguyen Do, a key member of the Tale of Kieu translation project team.
This event is designed to celebrate the depth of Vietnamese culture and cultivate meaningful academic exchanges that connect Vietnamese literature to the international stage.
Special Seminar with a Distinguished Harvard Scholar
The program offers students and attendees the chance to meet Professor John Stauffer, a leading scholar of protest literature and nineteenth-century American literary history.
He is a Professor of English at Harvard University and the author of 19 notable books on abolitionism, Southern literature, and the legacies of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
His works have greatly influenced humanities studies in the United States, illuminating themes of freedom, democracy, and human dignity.
Cultural Exchange with a Member of the Tale of Kieu Translation Project team
Poet-Translator Nguyen Do is widely recognized for bringing Vietnamese literature to global readers. His works include over 13 poetry collections, multiple bilingual anthologies, and a lasting influence on contemporary poetry.
Additionally, he has collaborated with Professor John Stauffer and Poet Paul Hoover as co-editor and translator of the newest English version of The Tale of Kieu. This effort plays a vital role in elevating Nguyen Du’s masterpiece on the world literary stage.
The event promises to create a rich academic space where literary, historical, and cultural values converge within the spirit of international integration.
