Culture is not confined to museums or history lessons, but lives in everything around us, shaping how we see, feel, and create. By embedding cultural identity into design, we create works that not only distinguish themselves but also share Viet Nam’s spirit and story with the world.
The Journey of Bringing Identity into Creativity
– How can we reflect identity in our creative work without stopping at appearance alone?
– How do we incorporate familiar elements into modern creations while keeping them elegant and meaningful?
– And, how can contemporary products still feel relatable and authentically connected to their roots?
All will be answered in the Workshop “Design & Identity”, organized by the Faculty of Design Arts, Hoa Sen University (HSU).
Distinguished speaker: Ms. Truong My Dung, Author, Cultural Consultant, & founder of Tri Thu Dat Le
With extensive experience in researching Vietnamese culture and applying it to modern creative practices, My Dung will share meaningful insights on:
– How to approach culture through designs;
– Respecting authenticity and cultural values in creativity;
– The journey of reimagining traditional materials in a modern context; and,
– Common misconceptions and misapplications of national heritage in creative practices.
The workshop offers practical insights to help students and young designers retain the Vietnamese soul in their creative work.
