A New Standard for Marketing Education: HSU Collaborates with Thanh Nien Newspaper

On August 27, 2024, Hoa Sen University and Thanh Nien Newspaper officially signed a training cooperation agreement. As a result, students from the Faculty of Marketing – Communications will gain hands-on, international-standard experience directly at the newspaper’s office.

Real-World Journalism Experience

As a key part of the new cooperation agreement, Thanh Nien Newspaper will organize the “News Production and Reporting” course for Hoa Sen University (HSU) students from their first year. The course will be held directly at the newspaper’s office and will be available in both Vietnamese and English.

The teaching staff, comprised of reporters and editors from Thanh Nien Newspaper, is the key advantage of this training program. Many of these journalists are highly educated, with master’s degrees from universities both in Viet Nam and abroad, and possess the ability to teach in English. This invaluable team of insiders will help students bridge the gap between academic theory and professional practice. This is an opportunity for students to learn from “insiders”, linking theory with practice.

Bilingual training not only improves the foreign language skills of both sides’ staff, but Thanh Nien Newspaper’s team also has the opportunity to share the latest knowledge, experience, and international cooperation in multimedia communications with learners.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Ngoc Thuy, Provost of the HSU, emphasized: “Our vision is to help many students benefit from this program and establish it as a model for other universities in Ho Chi Minh City. By placing students directly in the newsroom, we make sure that learning goes hand in hand with practice, giving them an experience that simply cannot be achieved in a traditional classroom setting”.

Moreover, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan stated that this collaboration was a testament to the shared human values of both institutions. It offered students the chance to understand Thanh Nien Newspaper’s commitment to kindness and humanity, while also allowing journalists to put HSU’s guiding principles, including respecting diversity and upholding international standards, into action.

The collaboration between HSU and Thanh Nien Newspaper is a significant step toward improving the quality of media education, expanding career opportunities, and fostering international-standard skills for students. This partnership will serve as a foundation for HSU to affirm its commitment to hands-on, practical learning that meets international standards.
