Former Math Specialized Student Chooses HSU’s Media Production Management as First Choice

With a background in specialized math, Ms. Nguyen Huynh Minh Thu has embarked on a bold new path. She chose Media Production Management as her major at Hoa Sen University, beginning a creative journey that extends far beyond her comfort zone.

A Math Student’s Journey to Media Production Management major

Initially, Minh Thu’s academic profile was “imbalanced”, as she was strong in literature but weak in math. Soon after, her persistent efforts paid off; she not only improved her grades but also gained admission to the specialized math program at Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted (Can Tho Province). Despite her love for logic, she felt that working with numbers stifled her creativity and personality.

Looking to break free from old limits and challenge herself, she was inspired by a student from her high school who also attended Hoa Sen University (HSU). After researching the university’s majors, her decision was clear: the Media Production & Management program was the perfect choice to support her comprehensive development. 

My decision to enroll at HSU was driven by more than just personal interest. I was drawn to the hands-on learning environment, which I knew would give me the chance to explore my passion and find my voice. This is the place that allows me to explore and assert myself.

A series of achievements, scholarships, and outstanding experiences

Throughout her studies, Minh Thư has actively sought to gain experience in various fields: joining the HSU Reception Club, trying her hand at being a model and MC, and participating in numerous events and competitions both on and off campus.

With an excellent command of English, a knack for logical presentation, and a solid academic foundation, Minh Thư has established herself as a well-rounded and versatile young professional. Her hard work has resulted in numerous distinctions, including:  the Go Global HSU 2024–2025 English Full Scholarship, a 30% Talent Scholarship from FPT University, and top prizes in competitions like Đi An Toàn – Về Hạnh Phúc and EIC ARENA, a Media Ambassador for The Moneyverse (VTV), a Top 15 finalist in the FPTU Talent nationwide contest, …

In addition, Minh Thư was a Top 44 finalist in the Miss University Vietnam 2025. Although she focused on her final year of studies, she viewed it as a mature decision to prioritize her long-term goals, such as pursuing a master’s degree and building a career in media content.

She shared that it was not until her third year, when she began expanding her relationships and trying new things, that she was truly able to discover her full potential. For her, every experience at HSU, from the classroom and the stage to extracurricular activities, was a stepping stone, helping her become more mature, confident, and vibrant.

Looking back on my four years at HSU, I confidently affirm that choosing Media Production & Management was the best decision of my life.

With confidence, independent thinking, and a spirit of lifelong learning, Minh Thu is a living proof of the image of an energetic HSU student: brave, creative, and ready to conquer every opportunity in the digital media era. Her journey at HSU proves that for Minh Thư, choosing a major was a life-changing decision. By transitioning from a math background to the Media Technology Management program, she not only broke free from her comfort zone but also opened the door to new experiences and future success
