Real-World Training: HSU Marketing & Communication Students Complete Course at Tuoi Tre Newspaper
On July 10, 2025, 46 HSU Marketing–Communication sophomores completed a practical course at Tuoi Tre Newspaper. As the second group this year, they were recognized for their progress and strong academic spirit, following the first cohort of 45 students.
A First Look Inside the Media Profession
The course “Kỹ năng tạo lâp văn bản truyền thông” (suggested translation: Communication Text Creation Skills) was one of the highlights of the training cooperation program between Tuoi Tre Newspaper and Hoa Sen University. Moving beyond the classroom, students were able to apply theoretical knowledge in a professional journalism environment, gaining direct exposure to the practical demands of the field.

Each session at the newsroom was an intensive practice session where students took on the roles of a PR writer, social media manager, and communications planner. After that, they were challenged to generate, implement, and present their own ideas, preparing them for the “professional world”.
Instead of simply grading, instructors acted as facilitators, challenging students with direct questions and counter-arguments. This “learning pressure” helped students practice critical thinking and a spirit of inquiry, ultimately preparing them for the professional world.

The students’ creativity was evident in how they combined music, professional designs, and vivid scripts for their presentations. Their work reflected an awareness of modern media trends, covering a wide range of topics from concerts and MVs to product launches and community events.
Furthermore, students were highly commended for their initiative in research and implementation and their commitment to creating rich, well-rounded content.

Real value from a professional journalism environment
According to Thanh Binh, a Marketing & Communication student, the course at Tuoi Tre offered a practical knowledge base that he could apply across various media fields.
Having every word and every small mistake corrected helps me practice being meticulous. Studying at the newsroom is about learning not only how to write, but also a professional working style.

In addition, the learning process of writing, correcting, and rewriting helped Duc Manh to not only improve his language skills but also grow professionally. Meanwhile, Truc Linh was particularly impressed by the professional learning environment at the newsroom and the dedication of the lecturers: “The lessons are always concise but not dry. We learn from our mistakes and receive direct feedback, which is a valuable asset for growing in the profession”.
The course at Tuoi Tre Newspaper once again affirms the “experiential learning” philosophy of HSU and its Faculty of Marketing and Communication. Students not only improve and enhance the skills of creating communication texts, but also develop critical thinking, teamwork, and a professional style, which are essential for entering the job market.
