From the Halls of Knowledge to the Battlefield of Ideas

HSU Business Challenge is an annual academic competition organized by students of the Faculty of Economics – Management at Hoa Sen University, aiming to create a practical playground for young people passionate about business and entrepreneurship. This year’s competition stands out by attracting up to 200 contestants, including a team of high school students from Tran Van Giau Specialized High School with a technology project, demonstrating the growing influence of this platform beyond the university setting.

Participating in the competition, student teams go beyond just generating ideas. They conduct real market research, source materials from packaging to products, develop branding, and carry out communication on social media platforms such as Facebook and TikTok,… This is precisely where theory is turned into practice, and the classroom becomes a perfect springboard.

This competition is the ‘catalyst’ that ignites entrepreneurial thinking when students graduate. All participating students carry an entrepreneurial mindset, and I am very honored to have a team from Tran Van Giau Specialized High School. This is one of the highlights I greatly appreciate regarding the competition’s wide-reaching impact, proving that HSU always extends a warm welcome to all contestants. No matter who you are or where you come from, if you have projects in the making, feel free to confidently showcase your talent at HSU.

Two Months of Real Business: From Zero to Nine-Figure Revenue

In just 60 days, more than 30 projects were launched, featuring diverse models ranging from consumer products to technology applications, with high school students and HSU students directly involved in their production.

Having surpassed dozens of competitors, the Top 5 outstanding teams convinced the Competition Advisory Board to secure their place in this year’s Grand Finale and Award Gala. This is a great opportunity for students to shine and present their projects before the judging panel (which includes leading businesses in the Vietnamese market).

The Top 5 outstanding teams have reached the Final Round of the competition.

5 projects – 5 elements of the entrepreneurial spirit

Each product presented in the competition carries its own distinct identity, reflecting innovative thinking, creativity, and a strong personal touch in every idea.

Natural materials such as bamboo, bird’s nest, coffee, or artichoke have been transformed into a series of unique products that are both highly practical and in line with modern trends. This demonstrates the creativity and sharp acumen of the young student generation.

  • First Prize: Nam gao: Impressing with remarkable revenue generated in just 2 months from the business and production model of rice balls. The team was highly praised by the judging panel for their courage, the project’s clear and practical revenue, as well as their fluent presentation and long-term development orientation.
  • Second Prize: Nong san vang: Trading products made from bird’s nest, continuing the family business model. With the slogan “You are healthy – We are proud,” the team marked its success with revenue exceeding 30 million VND.
  • Third Prize: A giot: A coffee project made from artichoke with a novel concept. The judging panel recognized its potential if the team continues to pursue and develop it in the right direction.
  • Consolation Prizes: Tiem Nha Tre and Gion Tan Min Mang: Both teams demonstrated the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to their business models and adopt suitable business methods within a company setting.
The two teams awarded the Consolation Prizes are “Tiem Nha Tre” and “Gion Tan Min Mang”.

And these five outstanding projects officially concluded the Final Round of the HSU Business Challenge 2025. Regardless of the results, each team has experienced a journey to be proud of and gained valuable lessons from the sincere feedback of the faculty and the judging panel.

Promoting the spirit of ‘learning by doing,’ studying Business Administration at HSU is not confined by any boundaries, going beyond the formal training program to showcase the creativity and talent of students in the Faculty of Economics – Business.

I believe this is a significant learning experience, where students are free to creatively develop the business projects they have been nurturing. While there may be some mistakes, this is an invaluable opportunity when stepping into real businesses. Most importantly, it is a truly memorable experience for students at HSU. It goes beyond the framework of a competition; this is their actual business project before graduating from HSU.
