HSU’s Next Star Accountant: Finance-Banking Student Crowned “Chief Accountant for a day” contest

THoa Sen University students, on their way to becoming future chief accountants, won the championship of the prestigious academic competition, “Chief Accountant for A Day”, by outperforming more than 230 candidates nationwide.

With professional guidance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and experts from leading auditing firms in Viet Nam, the “Chief Accountant for a Day” competition was an annual academic contest organized by students from the Faculty of Finance – Banking at Hoa Sen University (HSU). The fourth season of the event was a success, with a key feature that the entire event was conducted in English. This showcased the participating students’ professional skills and readiness for an international environment.

The contest simulated the actual work of a Chief Accountant in a business, requiring candidates to fully meet the following skills: expertise in specialized English across a range of skills, including finance, accounting, critical thinking, team leadership, and problem solving.

More than 230 candidates from 39 universities nationwide

In 2025, the competition attracted over 230 candidates from 39 universities nationwide, including many prestigious institutions such as: National Economics University, Foreign Trade University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, the Academy of Finance… After a series of preliminary rounds, the five best teams competed in the final round, which was held at HSU. FINAL RESULTS:

• Champion: Accountaholics (team of HSU and HUB students);
• First Runner-up: The Amateurs (team of FTU, IU, AOF, UEH, and HUB students);
• Second Runner-up: Trial Balance (team of FTU and UEH students);
• Consolation Prize: Juventax (team of FTU and BAV students);
• Consolation Prize: The Audit Chasers (team of NEU, AOF, and FTU students).

In the final round, the Accountaholics team, comprised of members from HSU and HUB, impressed the judges with a presentation and debate conducted entirely in English. Their victory was a result of their in-depth content, logical arguments, and confident demeanor.

This award provided us with not only a significant achievement but also a solid stepping stone, increasing our group’s confidence for the working environment and opening doors to industry experts”.
