The First Cohort of HSU Law Students Defend Their Graduation Theses: A Mark of Maturity from Practical Experience
From July 15–17, the Faculty of Law – Psychology successfully organized the Thesis Defense and Internship Evaluation sessions for 21st-cohort students in Economic Law and International Law. This meaningful milestone marks the official graduation of the first cohort from HSU’s Law discipline.
Academic, Practical, and Global Competence Reflected in Each Thesis
The topics chosen and developed by the students for this defense clearly demonstrated their academic ability, critical thinking, and their capacity to identify high-application, contemporary legal issues.
From familiar aspects of daily life such as land law, marriage and family law, and civil contracts, to highly specialized fields like corporate law, commercial disputes, and international contracts, each thesis showed serious investment in both theoretical foundations and research methodology, along with proposed solutions that are relevant to the current situation in Vietnam.

Many outstanding theses were highly praised by the academic council, such as Law on Copyright Protection for Musical Works in Vietnam and Law on Resettlement Compensation When the State Recovers Land – A Case Study in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City.
Notably, some theses demonstrated the international integration capabilities of Hoa Sen University students by being conducted 100% in English. An example is “A study into application of Shareholders Agreement from international M&A practice and its implication under Vietnamese law.” The students’ proficiency in legal terminology and their effective use of foreign resources serve as proof of their professional competence and their ability to adapt to the globalization of the legal field.

According to Dr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law – Psychology, the graduation of the first cohort of students from the Economic Law and International Law programs marks a significant step in the university’s strategy to develop high-quality legal professionals.
The graduation theses reflect a comprehensive journey of training and maturity at Hoa Sen University, covering specialized knowledge, legal research skills, and the ability to analyze, reason, critique, and write in a professional style. These are essential competencies that a law graduate needs to confidently integrate and thrive in a competitive professional environment.
The thesis defenses were conducted in a serious atmosphere, with a professional council consisting of experienced lecturers and practitioners. The students displayed confidence and the ability to present their work clearly, logically, and with solid counterarguments, showing remarkable maturity in their analytical, reasoning, and independent legal thinking skills.
Modern Legal Training Model Fused with Practical Experience
During the graduation thesis defense sessions, students also completed their graduation internship reports at reputable agencies, businesses, and law firms. The combination of thesis defense and internship reports created a seamless learning process, allowing students to connect academic knowledge with practical experience and thereby develop a highly applicable professional mindset.

At the Faculty of Law – Psychology, practical experience is considered a crucial highlight of the curriculum. Throughout their studies, students are given opportunities to participate in moot court sessions and legal simulation activities. They also gain direct exposure to real-world work environments at legal institutions in Ho Chi Minh City. This approach helps them develop professional skills early on, combining knowledge, professional ethics, and the ability to adapt to complex situations in the legal field.
“The Faculty of Law – Psychology has given me many memorable experiences. First and foremost is the dedication of the lecturers, who always strive to impart knowledge and are ready to share meaningful advice. Additionally, I always received enthusiastic support from the Faculty’s staff throughout my four years of study, which helped me have a complete experience at HSU. In particular, practical learning activities like moot court and field trips to actual courts provided me with valuable, hands-on knowledge and beneficial experiences.”
Ngo Hoang Long, Student of Economic Law

The success of this first thesis defense and internship report session is not only a testament to the students’ academic achievements but also reflects the correct direction of the Faculty of Law – Psychology in designing a curriculum that focuses on practical skills, professional competence, and international integration. This is also a crucial foundation for HSU to continue affirming its position in training high-quality legal professionals, meeting the increasingly strict demands of the labor market and modern professional standards.
The outstanding completion of their university journey by the first cohort of students is not only a source of pride for the university but also an inspiration for future generations. In their upcoming journey, they will not only carry with them specialized knowledge and an academic spirit but also represent the image of an HSU Law Graduate: resilient, humane, and ready to contribute to the progress of society.
