[Love Yourself, Shun Evil – Season 2] The Pieces of Self-Compassion on the Journey to Healthy Love
The journey to healthy love isn’t about healing from past hurts; it’s a process for young people to learn how to understand, love, and stay with themselves. The “Love Yourself, Shun Evil” Season 2 series has come to an end with emotional moments, from spreading self-compassion on social media to a deeply healing workshop.
Piece 3: Understanding Yourself – Loving Yourself
In the fast-paced modern world, the seemingly simple act of loving oneself is easily forgotten. Amid countless responsibilities and expectations, many young people don’t get the chance to stop and ask, “How am I really feeling?” That’s why the third piece, Understanding Yourself – Loving Yourself, was designed as a creative communication activity on social media platforms. It aimed to spark inner connection in an accessible way, raising awareness about self-compassion.

Instead of traditional workshops, this activity invited young people to share genuine, unfiltered, yet inspiring images, stories, and personal feelings about their journey to healthy and authentic self-love. When you love yourself sincerely, you also spread positive energy to the world – this was the core spirit of the third piece. Self-love doesn’t have to be perfect or dazzling; it just needs to start with understanding and appreciating yourself.

The activity received a great response from Hoa Sen students. Many heartfelt stories were shared, from overcoming academic pressure to learning to forgive themselves after setbacks. Each post was not just a glimpse into a journey of self-love, but a gentle reminder: “Inner peace begins with understanding and loving yourself.”
Piece 4: I’m Still Here – After Everything
After learning to identify emotions, face the messiness, and nurture self-compassion, the “Love Yourself, Shun Evil” Season 2: Self-Love is a Skill series concluded with the workshop “I’m Still Here – After Everything.”

The workshop was led by M.A. Nguyen Tran Kieu Van, the founder of the BeMindful project and a certified teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion from the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (USA). Ms. Kieu Van was previously the Marketing Program Director at HSU. With years of experience in education, training, and specialized research, she created a space for connection where participants could truly pause, listen, and empathize with themselves with complete gentleness.

At the workshop, participants were able to:
- Rediscover the concept of Self-Compassion – A vital skill for maintaining inner stability amid change.
- Reflect using the Johari Window model – Identify unknown parts of themselves.
- Practice mindfulness through movement – Each step becomes a rhythm connecting the body and mind.
- Write a letter to “the friend named me” – A deeply healing activity where each person could return to themselves after past hurts, expectations, and efforts.

The “Love Yourself, Shun Evil” Season 2 series concluded with pieces full of emotion, experience, and newfound awareness. From “Love Yourself Right – Direct Yourself True” to “Sitting with the Messiness,” and from “Understanding Yourself – Loving Yourself” to “I’m Still Here – After Everything,” each stage affirmed one important truth: Self-love is not an innate instinct. It is a skill that needs to be learned, practiced, and nurtured with compassion for
