Political power is commonly understood as power expressed and exercised over others, as coercive and imposing power, forcing others to obey the orders of those in power…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hannah Arendt proposed a concept of power completely different from the above understanding. Her theory of power is deeply humanistic, and with this concept, she placed humanity’s political activities in an unexpected dimension of humanity.\u00a0What is that concept?\u00a0Nguyen Thi Tu Huy will introduce this unique concept to interested people at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the Saturday Coffee Culture Salon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nguyen Thi Tu Huy is currently Head of the Department of Liberal Education at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Hoa Sen University.\u00a0She defended her doctoral thesis in French Literature in 2008 and her doctoral thesis in political philosophy in 2018, at Paris Diderot University.\u00a0Her literary studies focus on contemporary literary theory, especially with authors: Barthes, Ricoeur, Genette, Foucault, Deleuze, and Derrida.\u00a0With an interdisciplinary approach, she interrogates several issues at the intersection of the social sciences and humanities: the relationship between creation and reception, between logic and feeling, problem interpretation, the disintegration of identity in contemporary times, and the breakdown of subjective and symbolic structures.\u00a0Her recent research in the field of political philosophy is based on the thoughts of contemporary philosophers: Arendt, Deleuze-Guattari, Lefort, and Havel, from which to develop thoughts on today’s political issues.
